The project thus formed the comple\u00admentary part of the H<sub>2<\/sub>UGS R&amp;D project, in which the storage of hydrogen in salt caverns was&nbsp;researched.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Using formation water and rock samples from various European under\u00adground storage facilities, the MicroPro team inves\u00adti\u00adgated the popula\u00adtions and microbial processes that may be associated with hydrogen injection in the micro\u00adbio\u00adlo\u00adgical sub-project. In order to determine the H2 stimu\u00adlation potential of microbial processes, extensive laboratory and model tests were carried out under normal and high-pressure conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With one exception, various groups of hydrogen-consuming micro\u00ador\u00adga\u00adnisms were found in all samples. The results of the micro\u00adbio\u00adlo\u00adgical simulation tests were incor\u00adpo\u00adrated into geoche\u00admical models of bio-reactivity in 3D models in order to evaluate the expected effects on the scale of opera\u00adtional storage.
