The electro\u00adlytic production of hydrogen and partial feed-in into the natural gas grid (power to gas) is one way of storing surplus energy from renewable sources. According to DVGW guideline G 262, a maximum volume share of 5% hydrogen in the natural gas grid is already compliant with regula\u00adtions. Higher upper limits are currently being discussed; this limit has already been successfully quadrupled as part of the \u201c20% hydrogen in the gas grid\u201d innovation project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Several studies have already highlighted the microbial-related technical risks associated with feeding a proportion of hydrogen into under\u00adground storage facilities. MicroPro GmbH is addressing this problem by developing a monitoring process for the micro\u00adbio\u00adlo\u00adgical risk assessment of hydrogen storage. This risk assessment comprises meaningful chemical, micro\u00adbio\u00adlo\u00adgical and molecular biolo\u00adgical analyses, which have been compiled under strictly economic and practical aspects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:130px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group left-padding-box\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading special\">Microbial risk&nbsp;assessment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list pt-0\">\n<li>Current degree of colonization of the under\u00adground storage tank<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hazard potential due to hydrogen-utilizing microorganisms<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assessment of the technical and economic risk<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prevention and treatment strategies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:91px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"true\" data-scroll-offset=\"100\"><h3 id=\"at-9910\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\">Further information<\/h3><div id=\"ac-9910\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<p>The advan\u00adtages of various analysis techniques are combined for compre\u00adhensive micro\u00adbio\u00adlo\u00adgical storage charac\u00adte\u00adrization. In addition to the molecular biolo\u00adgical identi\u00adfi\u00adcation of relevant micro\u00ador\u00adganism groups, the detection of living micro\u00ador\u00adga\u00adnisms in enrichment cultures has proven to be very infor\u00admative. With these enrich\u00adments, the risk potential can be assessed in model tests under the specific storage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Risk assessment includes the following tests with original material from underground storage<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list pt-0\">\n<li>Micro\u00adscopic examination<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Physical\/chemical analyses<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Molecular biolo\u00adgical detection of relevant micro\u00ador\u00adganism groups<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enrichment and charac\u00adte\u00adrization of living microorganisms<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Model tests under high pressure conditions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Testing of treatment strategies to combat bacteria<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to the actual laboratory analyses, a compre\u00adhensive knowledge of the system history and operating proce\u00addures is required for the property assessment<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The German govern\u00adment\u2019s Integrated Energy and Climate Program (IEKP) of 2007 called for a 30% share of renewable energies in electricity generation by 2020 and even exceeded this target by reaching 45%.
